Summary. An archaeological watching brief took place at 97 High Street, Colchester, Essex during the machine-excavation of a series of test-pits by the developer. The remains of the south precinct wall of the Roman Temple of Claudius were uncovered close to the modern ground-level in the southern part of the site. Little of archaeological significance was reached in the northern part of the site, where the ground-level had been considerably made-up in modern times.
