Summary. A trial-trench was excavated by the Colchester Archaeological Trust prior to the erection of two semi-detached houses on a plot of land to the rear of 4 Hamilton Road. No archaeological features were identified in the trial-trench. Post-medieval pottery sherds were recovered from the topsoil and worked flints were recovered from the subsoil.
