Summary. An archaeological watching brief was carried out at 183 Maldon Road, Colchester in advance of the construction of an extension to the rear of the property. Despite being located in an area of known Roman burials, no significant archaeological horizons were identified. The garden had been extensively terraced in the recent past, probably during the construction of current property, with modern make-up layers sealing natural sand.
