Summary. An archaeological evaluation (one trial-trench) was carried out on land at The Fennes Estate, Fennes Road, Braintree, Essex in advance of the construction of new replacement barn. The estate comprises a 19th-century Grade II listed house with evidence of settlement activity going back to the medieval period. However, only a 20th-century bitumen surface, telegraph pole and water pipe were present.
