Summary.
An archaeological evaluation by trial-trenching (two trenches) was undertaken on land adjacent to 62 Military Road, Colchester, Essex as part of a pre-planning application assessment. Located close to an area where prehistoric, Roman and Anglo-Saxon remains have recently been identified, the evaluation revealed a medieval pit or ditch (of c 14th- to 15th-/early 16th-century date), a modern ditch and the remains of a demolished cellar.
