Summary. An archaeological evaluation (nine trial-trenches) and geoarchaeological investigation were carried out on land to the rear of 60a Maldon Road, Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex in advance of the construction of six residential dwellings and ancillary works. Evaluation revealed one pit of possible Iron Age date, which may be related to a significant Iron Age site located to the east which was excavated in 2017. A number of possible features which may have been natural in origin (two possible pits, a posthole, and a ditch), as well as a natural silt patch, were also uncovered.
