Summary. Archaeological monitoring was carried out at 17 Shrub End Road, Colchester, Essex during groundworks for an extension and a soakaway. The site lies just north of the Gosbecks-Colchester Roman road, and south of a known area of Roman cemeteries. Despite being located in an archaeologically-sensitive area, however, no siginificant remains were encountered.
