Summary. An archaeological evaluation (four trial-trenches) was carried out at FBS Motor Salvage, Stanhope Industrial Park, Wharf Road, Stanford-Le-Hope in advance of the construction of flexible industrial units, a new access road and parking, sewage treatment and services. The evaluation found a sparsity of archaeological deposits across the site, and only a single post-medieval gully was uncovered. This feature yielded three sherds of post-medieval pottery and a single sherd of Roman pottery. A further sherd of Roman pottery as well as a flint and a fragment of post-medieval glass were also found.
