Summary. Archaeological monitoring took place at 158 Straight Road, Colchester during groundworks for a rear and side extension. The development site is located at the 'Peartree Junction' where Prettygate Dyke meets the Shrub End Dyke. Minor features were found – likely all modern – but there was no evidence of the dykes, which appear to have been truncated by the construction of the house and garage and accompanying landscaping.
