Summary. Archaeological monitoring was carried out at 6 High Street, West Mersea, Essex during groundworks for the construction of an extension. Despite being located close to the Church of St Peter & St Paul and in an area of known Roman remains, no significant archaeological remains were impacted by the groundworks. The only features present were two undated pits, both probably tree-throws or similar.
