Summary.
An archaeological evaluation (three trial-trenches) was carried out on land to the rear of Stranger’s Way, Church Road, Brightlingsea, Essex in advance of the construction of five new residential dwellings. The site is located c 380m west/north-west of a large multi-period archaeological site at Brightlingsea Quarry which provided evidence for occupation from the Early Neolithic to the Late Anglo-Saxon period. Features encountered during the evaluation included three undated ditches and a gully, a pit/tree-throw, a modern rubbish pit and eight modern tree-throws.
