Summary. Archaeological monitoring took place at Firstsite, Lewis Gardens, Colchester, Essex, during groundworks for the construction of six temporary sculptures. There is significant Roman activity in and around the development site; more specifically, it lies within Insulas 31/32 of the Roman town. Excavations did not go deep enough to disturb any possible archaeological remains, and only modern layers were identified.
