Vision and Synthetic Environments
The Vision and Synthetic Environments Laboratory ("VASE Lab") of the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering of the University of Essex is where people explore things visual. Associated with the Robotics Research Group, the VASE Lab explores computer vision and virtual reality; indeed, a significant part of the Lab's research explores the boundaries between the two disciplines.Within the Lab there is particular expertise in:
- the design and construction of vision systems using machine learning;
- the evaluation of vision systems and components;
- processing imagery from aerial robots ("drones");
- outdoor, untethered augmented reality and wearable computers.
You can find out more about what we do by looking at our projects page. Some demonstrations of our work are also online, and we make available some of our software for you to use in your own research.
